Enterprise Training
The Partnership does this by providing business development support, business mentoring, accountancy guidance and enterprise training workshops covering a full range of business topics.
By providing business development support Waterford Area Partnership is able to bring the client from the initial concept to the stage where they have identified potential markets, sourced materials, have realistic costings established, pricing policy and cash flow projections in place.
“Once we get to the stage where a client is ready to set-up their own business we arrange for a Business Mentor to work one-to-one with the client” Nina Walsh, Enterprise Officer, advises “this helps develop confidence as there is always someone available to discuss issues and problems”.
The Enterprise Training organised by Waterford Area Partnership has proved very popular. The workshops are tailored to meet the needs of new businesses and covers topics in a practical and down to earth fashion. Topics covered include Basic Bookkeeping, Marketing & Pricing Skills, Taxation & P.R.S.I. (including VAT & Tax returns), Customer Care, Health & Safety and Networking.
The workshops are funded by the Department of Social and Family Affairs.
Liam Murphy, Facilitator, D.S.F.A. said “We are delighted to join with Waterford Area Partnership in supporting people who are setting up their own enterprises and becoming self-employed.”
“Based on the reaction of the people who attended in the past we expect a very high demand for places again this year” is the view of Nina Walsh, Enterprise Officer, Waterford Area Partnership. Feedback from last year’s participants would indicate that that they found the content to be of real value to someone starting off in business. It definitely helped them to manage their businesses better on a day-to–day basis.
