The Ferrybank Horticulture Local Training Initiative is a community based programme run in the Ferrybank area for unemployed people. Funded by FÁS it is a 36 week programme where participants can share a garden space, learn from each other and gain skills necessary to tend their own garden, grow their own produce and perhaps, go on to further training, set up a business or gain employment.

On full completion of the course, people will receive a FETAC Level 4 Major Award in Horticulture, which includes the following training modules: Horticulture, Construction, Communications, Work Experience, Food & Nutrition and Manual Handling.

There were 25 places on the Course which started in July 2010.
