DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR

♦  Back-ache after a long day
♦  Tense neck and shoulders
♦  Feeling stressed
♦  Tired all the time
♦  Breathing difficulties
♦  Recurring headaches

If so, then you could benefit from a course of lessons in the Alexander Technique.

WHAT IS THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE?

♦  The Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method for releasing tension in your body in order to improve posture, balance, flexibility and co-ordination.
♦  The Alexander Technique is an educational method rather than a therapy (although most people find their lessons very therapeutic). It is an intelligent way to solve body problems.
♦  The Alexander Technique is an effective tool to increase your self-awareness and get rid of harmful habits that cause unnecessary stress and restrict capabilities.

WHO CAN BENEFIT?

Everyone can benefit from a course of lessons in the Alexander Technique:

♦  Those suffering from backache, tense neck & shoulders, migrane, high blood pressure, asthma, insomnia or depression.
♦  Anyone who has to handle stress, work at awkward angles, sit or stand for long periods, speak in public.
♦  Computer operators - many organisations are bringing in Alexander Teachers to help combat back problems and R.S.I..
♦ Pregnant women and mothers.
♦  Anyone interested in self-development. It can help to increase confidence, self-esteem & spontaneity.
♦  Musicians, Actors, Dancers, Singers, & Artists - Alexander Teachers are employed in all leading music & drama schools.
♦  Those who enjoy sport and exercise, like to keep fit, but do not want to damage themselves in the long term.

HOW IS IT TAUGHT?

The Alexander Technique is generally taught on a one-to-one basis. The individual is the focus of the Alexander Technique. We are all unique, with different bodies and different experiences. What happens in a lesson depends very much on the needs of the student at the time.

An Alexander Technique teacher helps you to see what in your movement style contributes to your recurring difficulty - whether it's bad back, neck and shoulder pain, restricted breathing, perpetual exhaustion or limitations in performing a task or sport.
