Golden Years Festival

2011 November 14th - 16th

The Golden Years Festival for 2011 eill be held in the Tower Hotel, Waterford from 14th - 16th of November. A full and exiciting programme of events are planned to ensured the enjoyment of visitors and locals alike.

The Festival includes "Song Contest & Cabaret" on Monday and Tuesday evenings with the Golden Years Festival Ball on the Wednesday evening. Day time activities include Indoor Bowls, Art Competition and visits to places of interest.

On Tuesday 15th Nov. there will be a Fashion Show followed by a "Race Meeting" in the Tower Hotel.

Now in its ninth year the idea for a Golden Years Festival came from the late Anna Manahan, Waterford's renowned International actor. Speaking at the Age & Power Conference organised by Waterford Area Partnership in 2004 she said that older people should be proud of their acheivements and celebrate their contribution to society by holding a Golden Years Festival.

The Challenge was taken up immediately by the Sacred Heart Active Retirement Association and they have hosted this wonderful festival for the past seven years.
