Road safety awareness programme for adults in Waterford!
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has produced a road safety awareness programme for adults called ‘Protecting Our Community- A Call to Action!’ It is made up of a resource pack and accompanying DVD. It is based on the Rules of the Road and aims to change the attitudes and behaviour of drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists.
The Road Safety Authority are running a free ‘train the trainer’ training programme for people interested in delivering ‘Protecting Our Community- A Call to Action!’ to adults in their community in Waterford on the 25th and 26th of August in the Tower Hotel, The Mall, Waterford.
This training is aimed at people who work with community groups in a professional or a voluntary capacity. The training will take place over two evenings to facilitate volunteers who work during the day. Participants will be expected to deliver the programme to community groups locally and to feed back information on these sessions to the Road Safety Authority. Training is free of charge. Participants will receive a training pack, DVD and a certificate.
You must attend both evenings of the training.

7.00-8.15 Overview of Road Safety in Ireland and ‘Protecting Our Community- A Call to Action’
8.15-8.30 Break
8.30-9.30 Group work
– Group 1 ‘Road User Impairment’
– Group 2: ‘Vulnerable Road Users’.
– Group 3: Safety belts and child restraints’’
Evening 2
7.00-8.00 Group Presentation 1- Road User Impairment
8.00-8.40 Group Presentation 2- ‘Vulnerable road users’
8.40-9.20 Group Presentation 3- ‘Safety belts and child restraints’
9.20-9.30 Certificates
