Southside Community Based Drug Initiative aims to promote the prevention of substance misuse through raising awareness in local communities and engaging with these communities in identifying relevant responses.
In particular, the Initiative aims to:
- Increase awareness of substance misuse and related issues.

- Help communities to implement responses to drug misuse.

- Develop strategies to reduce demand for drugs.

- Inform local, regional and national agencies of local needs and issues and to improve the quality of life for people affected by substance misuse.
The initiative delivers its work through four main strands: Support Work, Education and Awareness Programmes, Influencing policy and practice and Facilitating Community Stakeholders.
